EMDR Therapy in Groton, Connecticut
Trauma Therapy That Helps You Heal at the Root
EMDR therapy is designed to help you process trauma and move forward without feeling stuck in the past. If you have tried to talk through your experiences but still feel triggered, overwhelmed, or disconnected, EMDR offers a different approach.
I provide EMDR therapy in Groton, Connecticut for adults who are ready to understand what is underneath their symptoms and work through it in a meaningful and lasting way.
What is EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain and body process unresolved trauma and distress.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not rely on repeatedly talking through painful experiences. Instead, it works with the nervous system to reprocess memories so they no longer feel as intense, overwhelming, or disruptive.
As the brain processes these experiences, many clients notice a shift in how they think, feel, and respond. Memories that once felt activating begin to feel more distant and manageable, allowing for greater clarity and stability.

What EMDR Therapy Can Help With
EMDR therapy can be helpful for a range of concerns, especially those connected to past experiences or trauma.
This may include:
-
Trauma and PTSD
-
Anxiety and chronic stress
-
Panic and feeling on edge
-
Low self-worth or self-confidence
-
Grief and loss
-
Anger and emotional reactivity
-
Relationship patterns
-
Phobias
EMDR therapy can also be especially effective for isolated or single-incident experiences that continue to feel intrusive or unresolved. This may include events such as a car accident, assault, medical event, or the loss of a relationship. Even when the event is in the past, it can continue to show up through intrusive thoughts, images, or emotional reactions that feel difficult to control. EMDR helps process these experiences so they no longer feel as immediate or overwhelming.
Many clients come to EMDR therapy after noticing that they understand their patterns intellectually but still feel stuck. EMDR helps bridge that gap by working with both the mind and body.

EMDR Therapy Options
I offer EMDR therapy in several formats so we can choose the approach that best fits your needs, goals, and schedule.
EMDR Intensives
EMDR intensives are longer, structured sessions designed to help you make meaningful progress in a shorter period of time.
I offer 2-hour, 3-hour, and 6-hour intensive sessions in Groton, Connecticut, and virtually for clients located in Connecticut.
Intensives may be a good fit if you:
-
Want to focus on a specific memory or experience
-
Prefer a more concentrated approach than weekly therapy
-
Are motivated to move through trauma more efficiently
-
Have limited availability for ongoing weekly sessions
EMDR intensives are private pay only and are not covered by insurance.
Ongoing EMDR Therapy
Weekly or Extended EMDR Sessions
Ongoing EMDR therapy is offered in weekly or extended sessions and allows us to move through trauma at a steady and consistent pace. This format works well if you are looking for regular support while processing past experiences and building internal resources over time.
Extended sessions provide additional time to go deeper into the work while still maintaining consistency.
90 minute or 2 hour extended sessions available.
Choosing the Right Approach
You do not need to decide on your own which format is right for you.
Some clients begin with weekly EMDR therapy and later transition into intensives. Others start with an intensive and then continue with ongoing sessions for integration and support.
We will talk through your goals during the consultation and decide on the approach that best supports the work you want to do.
